"Cythina in the Snow" Analysis
Poems from the Harlem Renaissance mostly speak about the poets' experiences and struggles they had to go through with racism. Gwendolyn Brooks speaks about racism in a different way by comparing Caucasian people to snow. The evidence is clear that is talking about Caucasian people by have so much emphasis on the fact that snow is white throughout the poem. However, Brooks is talking about white people because she is kind of angry at them. Why, for the reason that they laugh at her, is loud towards her and wants her to stay quiet. Plus, in the line, “it shushes and hushes,” this tells the readers that they want her to be quiet while all this happens. So Brooks, and other poets from the Harlem Renaissance, are once again writing about the war of racism through their writing.
