"Eldorado" Analysis
Two aspects of the Romanticism movement were idealism & an interest in the mystic and supernatural. In Edgar Allen Poe's poem "Eldorado", he writes about both these aspects due to the fact the main goal of the knight in the poem was to find a mystic place that was made out of pure gold. The knight was so dedicated to finding Eldorado that eventually he grew old and he began to talk to his own shadow, but even the shadow wasn't able to tell him where the great city was at. Due to this, Poe wants us to learn to move on and not let one objective consume our whole entire life. If people were to do that, then they would grow old, be all alone, and won't get anywhere in life.
