"mirror" Analysis
One of the objectives of Confessional Poetry is to discuss private experiences and feelings about death. In Anne Sexton includes these feelings in her poem "Mirror" in a different way then what would be expected. In her poem, she has drowned a young girl in the ocean, but actually an old woman rises back to the surface instead. Due to this, Sexton clearly is expressing the fact that youth and beauty doesn't last forever hence she's getting older every day. So, what does that mean for the readers? Well, people must know that they have to move on with their lives because age is one of the view things that go up, but never comes back down.
