Literally Devices in "In memory of radio"
Allusion - The manner in which Amiri Baraka uses the device of allusion, when he references popular culture to draw the audience in so that he speaks to them on their level. “Oral Roberts and F. J. Sheen” are religious figures that both had a radio talk show about Christianity. He references these people to make the point that he's on the same level of power as his audience.
Pun - An example of a pun in this poem would be Amiri Baraka in the lines, "& love is an evil word. Turn it backwards/see, see what I mean? An evol word." Baraka does this to get his audience to see that he loved the radio, but not anymore because that love is evil.
Cliché – Amiri Baraka use the device of cliché in the line, “I certainly wouldn't like to go out on that kind of limb.” He uses this specific cliché to put emphasis on the fact that not everyone will understand his rational that the radio is evil.
Idiom - An example of an idiom in this poem would be Amiri Baraka in the lines, "It is better to have loved and lost than to put linoleum in your living rooms." Baraka include this in his poem to get his audience to see that he used to love radio entertainment, but not even more. However, that he doesn't love it anymore though because he could have ended up with stuff that he had no business with.
