Literally Devices in "The Day is Done"
Analogy - In the poem “The Day is Done”, Henry Longfellow displays examples of analogy in the lines: 'As a feather is wafted downwards'; 'As the mist resembles the rain'; As showers from the clouds of summer'. Longfellow included these lines in his poem to create a comparison of their sadness and sorrow with sad images. With him doing this, the reader is able to get a gist of how they really feel.
