Confessional Poetry
Confessional Poetry began in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In this style of poetry, the personal "I" is known to be the basic guideline for confessional poetry. Confessional Poetry discussed private experiences and feelings about death, trauma, depression, and relationships, often in an autobiographical manner. Poets from this movement include Robert Lowell, Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, and W.D. Snodgrass.
